Nancy Armstrong is a native of Raleigh, NC and has lived in Atlanta for the last 25 years. Although her interest in art history has been lifelong, she began painting about 15 years ago. Prior to then, she spent time working in international finance at Lloyds Bank International, Ltd. and Wachovia Bank, raising 3 children, and volunteering with school and arts organizations. Originally using pencils and pastels, Nancy began working with oils primarily in the last 15 years and is gradually becoming more contemporary in her creations, using palette knives and acrylics as well. Animals and landscapes are favorite themes. Nancy studied for many years with Chris Didimizio and has taken workshops from Nancy Franke, Lorraine Christie, John Guernsey, Jim Richards and Kim English. She painted with Nancy Franke in Tuscany in 2010 and in Provence in 2011. Her styles are influenced by many other artists, and she uses that inspiration to create many varied types of compositions. Favorite art shows include the Cherokee Town Club Art Show and various other local events. She also is included in the Swan Coach House Gallery, the ARTS Gallery off the Marietta Square and the Shop on Paces, in Vinings, GA.
